In 1982, our President Patricia Pliego Stout opened the original San Antonio, TX office with the goal of establishing life-long relationships with our customers, their families and their businesses through providing exceptional service. How does booking a trip with Alamo Travel Group work?

Now that you know a bit more about our company, you may ask what's the difference of booking my trip with Alamo Travel Group? We understand that booking simple flights or routine hotel reservations can be done online. The difference of working with a travel consultant is having someone that is there every step of the planning process until your return. As travel consultant's we are here to assist you during the decision making process by matching your travel needs and dates with the most appropriate destinations, accommodations and any activities or tours. While we always search for the most competitive rates from our suppliers our bottom line is to assist you making the best purchasing decision for your travel needs.

Planning Your Vacation

Our relationship with our clients is very important to us and it helps when our first time clients get a better vision of what the planning process entails. As with any client/consultant relationship you are a very important piece and getting the right information from you in the beginning helps us create the best vacation for you. Below you may find answers to some of the questions we get asked frequently.

To help us create your vacation experience we begin with a discussion of what you have in mind. Our travel consultants will ask questions regarding preferences, travel experience, who all will be joining you on your trip and ultimately what activities you are planning to do on your vacation. One of the major differences between us and an online booking engine is that from the very beginning we get a sense of what you are envisioning and no booking engine can replace the knowledge and personal touch of a travel consultant.

After listening to your conversation, our travel consultants will begin outlining ideas and suggestions for you. At this time you may also want to consider and discuss your budget. The more realistic you are about your budget the better our travel consultants can meet your criteria. One of the biggest misconceptions people have about travel consultants is that they are trying to sell you travel. As travel consultants our goal is to guide into the best vacation at the best rates available. While online may seem "convenient and easier" to book, the ultimate goal is for your vacation to be convenient and easy once you arrive not the other way around.

For itineraries where the client is looking to customize their own trip and travel more independently, our travel consultants will request a planning fee upfront for the in-depth research and customizing all components together. If you decide to engage our services after the initial consultation, our travel consultants will begin researching and putting together some options for your review. Since we are factoring many items you may have not thought of, this review process may take a little back and forth in making changes to ultimately customize the best vacation for you.

Once we create the travel itinerary you had envisioned we can collect a deposit to book your reservation. Deposits vary from destination and travel partner and final payments are usually due 60 days prior to departure. About 30 days prior to travel we will receive your travel documents; which contain all confirmation numbers, key contact information, destination information and travel protection details. At this time we schedule an appointment to go over these documents and also answer any questions you may have.
